Jack Dean Grindstaff, 83, Johnson City passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital.

A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Wheeler G. and Grace Church Grindstaff. He had lived a number of years in Carter County before moving to Johnson City about 20 years ago.

He was a retired Truck Driver for Inland Container. Mr. Grindstaff was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church, Johnson City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Steven Grindstaff, June 16, 2011; by two brothers: Lowell Grindstaff and his wife, Pauline, and Howard Grindstaff; and a sister and her husband: Pansy & Ed Greer.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Geraldine Scalf Grindstaff; A Daughter & Son-in-Law: Jackie & Judge Pippin, Knoxville; A Brother: Doug Grindstaff, Johnson City; Four Grandchildren: Stephen Pippin, Seth Pippin and his wife, Mallery, Jordan Dean Grindstaff and John Goodwin; Several nieces & nephews, includeing two special nieces: Ann Fortner and Sandy.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with his son-in-law, Judge Pippin, officiating. Burial will follow the service.

Friends may also visit at the residence at anytime.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
