Jacqueline Hodge Vines, 70, of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Lawton and Della Bunton Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Hodge; and one sister, Helena Hodge Feathers.
Mrs. Vines was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She loved to laugh and enjoyed her grandchildren. She raised her children to know the love of Jesus.
Survivors include her husband, Otis Vines, of the home; three daughters, Kimberly Lyon and husband Bret, Bluff City; Melissa Crabtree and Linda Berry, both of Hampton; one son, Jason T. Vines and wife Brandi, Roan Mountain; eight grandchildren, Jared Lyon, Tyler Lyon, Jace Lyon, Molly Crabtree, Taylor Berry, Christopher Berry, Dalton Vines and Trinity Vines; three sisters, Jean Hodge and Geraldine Banner, both of Hampton; and Susan Hirner, Lockport, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Vines will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. John Stevens and Brother Bret Lyon, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday, or at the home of a daughter, Melissa Crabtree, 112 Mountain View Circle, in the Rittertown Community of Hampton, at anytime. Music will be under the direction of Brookside Baptist Church.
The graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Greg Andrews, Greg Trivette, Patrick Trivette, Brian Taylor, Carl Calhoun, and Michael Feathers. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends and family. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 AM on Thursday, to go in procession.
