James W. Crabtree, Jr.

James William “Jimmy” Crabtree, 55, Hampton passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James William Crabtree Sr. and Ruby Jean Hughes Crabtree. He was a 1974 graduate of Hampton High School. He had been employed for many years in Masonry but had been retired due to disability.

Jimmy was a member of the Pearces Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. His hobbies were woodworking and finding four-leaf clovers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jane Crabtree; and a brother, Jeffery Crabtree.

Survivors include his wife: Melissa Vines Crabtree; One Daughter: Molly Elizabeth Crabtree, of the home; Four Sisters: Deborah Mottern and husband, Tim, Hampton, Shelia Hutchins and husband, Bob, Bristol, Marcy Sheets, Elizabethton, and Mary Jo Reeves and husband, Tom, Erwin; One Brother: Chuck Crabtree, Elizabethton; Several nieces & nephews; His special Cousin: “Uncle Opal Russell.”

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Revis officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. John Stevens officiating. Music will be provided by the Minton Family.

Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, will be: Chuck Crabtree, Zack Crabtree, Eldon White, Mike White, Bret Lyon, Charles Berry, Jason Vines and Tyler Lyon. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Otis Vines, Jerry Culler, Roger Sheets, Larry Hughes, Bobby Hutchins, Tim Mottern, Jeff Andrews and his church family.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery.
