James W. “Jim” Krause, age 76, of Johnson City, TN, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.

A native of Flint, Michigan, he was a son of the late Casimir and Evelyn O’Hara Krause. Mr. Krause was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was retired from First American Bank. During his banking career, Mr. Krause was a loan officer, and he managed several First American Bank branches and was Vice President of the bank. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Buffalo Valley Golf Course until his health no longer permitted him to play. Mr. Krause was a member of Munsey United Methodist Church and the Johnson City Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Alma Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Robert Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Krause, of the home; a son, James Krause, Jr., Johnson City; two brothers, George Krause and Floyd Krause, both of Flint, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Richard Alan Anderson and wife Faye, of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Virginia Coleman, Miami, FL; one niece and several nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Krause will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Lester officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 2 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Those who wish to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O Box 1336, Johnson City, 37605; or a charity of your choice.
