Jean Sholes Brooks, 86, of Maryville, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Blount Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Brooks was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late Dillard M. Sholes Sr. and Elizabeth Bragg Sholes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Brooks Sr.; a daughter, Cindy Fleming; a grandson, Alan Hall; and a sister, Virginia Meecham. Mrs. Brooks owned and operated Folsom Printing in Elizabethton for 31 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton and had attended Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, Va., for two years. Survivors include a son, Rudolph Brooks Jr., Maryville, Tenn.; a grandson, Ryan Fleming, Maryville, Tenn.; and a special friend, Thomas Sheldon, Maryville, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service for Mrs. Brooks will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Friday.
