image Jerry “Tiny” Hardin, 53, 808 Watauga Drive, Elizabethton, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence.

A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Sylvia Chambers Hardin.

Tiny was owner and operator of Tiny’s Towing and Recovery Service. He loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Hattie and Bill Chambers; a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Gerald Pittman; and a grandson, Jarod Pittman.

Survivors include his wife, April Hardin, of the home; daughters, Stephanie Sheets and husband Bradley, Elizabethton, Rachel Winstead and husband Brandon, Elizabethton, and Haley Cretsinger, of the home; a son, Austin Wright, of the home; six grandchildren, Jolene Sheets, Zackery Sheets, Jayden Dupkoski, Elijah Dupkoski, Jaeda Winstead and Maycee Winstead; and his former wife and the mother of his daughters, Teresa Hardin, Elizabethton. Several aunts, uncles and cousins that were very special to Tiny and his faithful companion, his dog, Roxie, also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Hardin will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Ronnie Reece officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Winstead, Bradley Sheets, Jeremy Odette, Jason Odette, Bobby Trivette, Derrick Hamm, Carter “Beau” Honeycutt and Rusty Ruble. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Honeycutt, Mack Cooke and Jacob Force. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service, or at his residence or at the home of his daughter, Rachel, 2124 Forsythe Drive, Elizabethton, beside Tiny’s Towing and Recovery, at other times. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
