Joan Marjorie McMann Wright, 69, 235 Slagle Road, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at her residence. A native of New York City, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Nellie Woodby McMann. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a retired cook at Hermitage Health Center. She attended the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcina Carrier; and a sister, Judy Mayfield.
Survivors include Glen Wright, her husband of 26 years; three daughters, Kathy Grindstaff and husband, Larry, and Deborah Hampton all of Elizabethton, and Donna Bell, Rock Hill, S.C.; a step-son, Alan Jones, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Dustin Grindstaff, Jesse Hampton, Jacob Hampton and Seth Bell; one great-granddaughter, Jessa Hampton; and her special friends, Stephanie Lipford and Katie Holder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jackie Cole officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You†to Amedisys Hospice for all their care. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
