Joann Taylor, 75, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from the Johnson City Medical Center.  Mrs. Taylor was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Conley and Monnie Bailey Hartley.
Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and the former owner and operator of Taylor’s Grocery, she also worked at Levi Strauss as a seamstress and for many years, sold Avon.  She was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and loved to garden and raise flowers and spoiling her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years, Horton W. Taylor, of the home; a daughter, Monnie Kechter and husband Matthew, of Watauga, TN; two sons, Bryan Taylor and wife Cindy, Johnson City,TN, and Keith Taylor and wife Angie, Tarrant, Alabama; a sister, Joyce Kemp and husband Johnny, Unicoi, TN; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor, Alabama, Adam Taylor, and Wesley Taylor, both of Elizabethton, TN, Andrew Taylor, Johnson City, Gabriel Taylor, Alabama, Mason Kechter, Joseph Kechter and Katelyn Kechter, all of Watauga, TN; and one great granddaughter, Bella Taylor, Elizabethton, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Taylor will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Mark Fowler officiating. Music will be under the direction of Benny and Sherry Johnson.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ray, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Jimmy Taylor, Jerry Griffey and Matt Kechter.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 10:15 AM at Tetrick Funeral Home on Wednesday, to go in procession.
