Joannie Anderson Haynes, 50, of Hampton, went home to be in the arms of her Lord, Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was a fighter, and never gave up. Joannie was the kind of person that could light up any room. She had a smile that was contagious, and all that knew her, loved her. Joannie was an employee of the Johnson City Medical Center where she worked as a receiving coordinator. She loved her job and the people she was blessed to work with. She was a member of Hampton Christian Church. Joannie was a daughter of Gwen Satterfield Anderson of Kingsport and the late Mack Alvin Anderson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Richard S. Haynes.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard L. Haynes, and a son, Richard “Snaz†N. Haynes, both of the home; a brother, Jimmy A. Anderson and wife, Blenda, Kingsport; her sisters, Jan A. Sparrow, Johnson City, and Judy A. Mullenix, Kingsport; a nephew, Bobby J. Mullenix, Kingsport; nieces, Julie A. Anderson, Knoxville, Nikki E. Pirvu and husband, Mimi, Johnson City, and Natalie C. Donaldson and husband, Trey, Johnson City; great-nieces, Lily E. Pirvu, Johnson City, Allie Mullenix, Kingsport, and Larissa Brail, Kingsport; her mother-in-law, Ruth H. Haynes, Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Carole Boyd, Johnson City, and Lori A. Haynes and husband, Jon Christelles, San Antonio, Texas; a niece-in-law, Kismet Mullen and husband, Bryan, San Antonio, Texas; and great-nieces-in-law and great-nephew-in-law, Emily Mullen, Erin Mullen and Will Mullen, all of San Antonio, Texas. Special friends of the family, Joyce Walsh, Tina Miller, “Bud†Stevens, Sylvia Ward and Diane Cook, also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Haynes will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the home of her mother-in-law, Ruth Haynes, 1251 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, or a sister, Jan Sparrow, 174 Bank Saylor Road, Johnson City, other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Mimi Pirvu, Joyce Walsh, Floyd Miller, “Bud†Stevens, Justin Carver, Chris Tolley, W.A.
