ELIZABETHTON — Joe Ann (Nave) Polly, age 80, of Elizabethton, TN went to her Heavenly home with her family Monday, June 3, 2013 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Born December 4, 1932 in Andover, VA she was the daughter of the late George Dewey and Jessie Harris Nave. Mrs. Polly graduated from high school in Big Stone Gap, VA in 1950 where she was the Salutatorian. She retired from Raytheon Corporation after thirty years of service in the procurement department. She was of the Baptist faith. Joe Ann was an avid lover of Nascar and the Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved listening to the stories of her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Polly; two sons, Bill Polly and George Polly; a daughter, Sally Daugherty and two brothers, Bill Nave and George Nave. Survivors include a daughter, Ann McAllister and husband Jim, Jonesborough and her very loving, caring son, Bobby Polly, of the home; six grandchildren, David McAllister, Knoxville, Kim Martin, Jonesborough, Lesley Herrell, Jonesborough, Carla Kress, Elizabethton, Amy Williams, Mount Carmel, Jennifer Daugherty, Elizabethton and Robert Eric, Memphis; nine great-grandchildren; a special daughter-in-law, Brenda Polly, Elizabethton and a special sister-in-law, Judy Nave, Livingston, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Joe Ann (Nave) Polly will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with her nephew, Rev. Josh Nave officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at other times. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 7, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Martin, Micah Martin, Austin Williams and James McAllister. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Vivian Clark and her staff for their care to Mrs. Polly.
