Joe Edward Brown Sr., 73, Hampton, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of Avery County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late James P. and Georgia Marie Buchanan Brown. He had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was retired due to disability from the East Tennessee Undergarment Factory. Joe was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Virginia Grindstaff, Billie Alsmon, Viola Rizzato and Joyce Brown; and two brothers: Bobby & Charles Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Brenda Harrison Brown; A Daughter & Son-In-Law: Lisa & David Montgomery, Hampton; A Son: Joe Brown Jr., Hampton; Three Grandsons: Seth Montgomery, Cody Montgomery and wife, Kacey, and Houston Brown, all of Hampton; Two Sisters: Dorothy Brewer, Sacramento, California, and Betty Morton, Hampton; One Brother: Roger Brown, Grinnell, Iowa; A Brother-in-law: Bruno Rizzato and wife, Pat, Tampa, Florida; Several Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister, Rev. David Montgomery and Mr. Cody Montgomery officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Cody & Seth Montgomery. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family members. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jerry Garrison and Ted Fender.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to his Care Givers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and the residence of his daughter & son-in-law: Lisa & David Montgomery, 148 Spring Street, Hampton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
