image John W. Wilson, 69, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Eugene and Lillie Headrick Wilson and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a graduate of the Elizabethton High School Class of 1960 and a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. He was retired from the Carter County School System in 2003, where he worked as a bus driver.

He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Jean Franklin Wilson, of the home; a son, John Wayne Wilson II and his wife, Debra, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Elizabeth “Punkin” Wilson, Elizabethton; a grandson, Ben Fields, Johnson City; great-grandchildren, Isaac Maples and his twin brother, Marcus Maples, both of Johnson City; a sister, Mary Nell Goddard and her husband, Sid, Elizabethton; and a brother, Joe L. Wilson and his wife, Linda, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Wilson will be conducted on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with Mr. David Siebenaler and Mr. Clay Bailey, Ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joel Crisp and Gail Campbell.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, prior to the service, and at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, November 19, 2010, at 12:30 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be J.W. Walton, Earl McKinney, Jerry Nave, Phil Nave, Jerry White, Larry McKinney, John Paul Mathes, J.C. Campbell and Clyde Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Colbaugh, Doug Nave, Dr. Jonathon Bremer and Adam Walton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:45 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
