Mrs. Johnny D. Self, age 78, of Unicoi County passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethton.
She was born in Castro County, Texas and was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Pauline Dinkins Godfrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Self; two sisters, Faye Bloom and Argie McDonald; one brother, Glen Godfrey. Mrs. Self retired from car sales and attended Clark Street Baptist Church, Johnson City.
She is survived by one son, Terry Powell and his wife Julie, Johnson City; three grandchildren, Ali Powell, Elizabethton; Shannon Powell, Johnson City and Ashley Echedarria, Asheville, NC; two great-grandsons, Cohen Powell and Tanner Powell, both of Elizabethton; two sisters, Jo Ann Wells, Freona, TX; Carolyn Grunholf, Tulsa, OK; one brother, Ted Godfrey, TX; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 2:50 PM for the service.
