Juanita Edney Banner Julian, 87, of Bristol, Tenn., formerly of Elizabethton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Hermitage Health Center following a brief illness.

Ms. Julian was a native of Carter County in the Shell Creek Community and was the daughter of the late John and Birdie Johnson Edney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Jim” Banner, on August 30, 1976; her second husband, James N. Julian Jr., on November 7, 2000; and a daughter, Donna Catts, on May 16, 2012.

Ms. Julian was retired from East Tennessee Undergarment Company and was a graduate of Cloudland High School. She loved gardening, flowers and selling at the flea market. Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Barnett and husband Jackie, Bristol, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Travis Taylor and wife Suzanne and Tracy Taylor and wife Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Cayla Taylor and Cody Shaw; two brothers-in-law, Durward Julian and Paul Julian; special friends, Bob Pierce, Linda and Donnie Brock, Linda Bass, Patti and Kenneth DeLoach and Mary Walsh; and special nieces, Mildred Roberson, Jenny Campbell, Vista Clark, Barbara Simerly and Pat Edney Miller.

The funeral service for Ms. Julian will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Music will be under the direction of Jilian Clark Reece. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dickie Clark, Jordan Clark, Adam Reece, Robert Pierce, Donnie Brock, O.J. Roberson Jr., John Tom Edney and Roger Edney. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hillary Lungren, Irby Jones, Charlie Brown, Dr. Greg Clarity, Dr. Jason Moore and Dr. Ayad Latif. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Humane Society, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
