Juanita Hicks Shipley, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late John W. and Lillie Burchette Hicks and was born in Akron, OH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Shipley; four sisters, Marie Morrell Gibson, Betty DeLoach, JoAnn Peters Kennedy, and an infant sister, and two brothers, Burl Hicks and an infant brother.

Mrs. Shipley worked at East Tennessee Undergarment for twenty-eight years. She was a member of Eastside Christian Church.

Mrs. Shipley is survived by two sons, Ronald Shipley and his wife, Barbara, Huntersville, NC, Terry Shipley and his wife, Laura, Elizabethton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Shipley will be conducted Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Noon in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Mr. John Smith, Minister, officiating.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11:00-Noon prior to the service on Saturday.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Eastside Christian Church, 1400 Siam Road, Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643.
