Mrs. Lela B. Carden, 82, of 407 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, May 01, 2011, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late William Baker and Dollie Tester Franklin Baker. She was born and raised in Hampton but had lived in Elizabethton for a number of years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carden was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William C. Carden; five brothers: William E. Baker, Floyd Franklin, Kay Franklin, Albert Baker and Paul L. Baker; one sister, Grace Baker Walker; one niece, Ann Franklin; five nephews: Chuck Franklin, Gene Baker, Charles (Bob) Baker, Albert Baker, Jr., and James Walker; three sisters-in-law: Edna Franklin, Louise Baker and Aileen Franklin.
Survivors include six nephews: Chase Franklin, Wayne Franklin, Jim Baker, Richard Baker, Danny Ellis, and Joseph Pearce; eleven nieces: Judy Franklin, Bettye Baker, Mary E. Morgan, Julia Franklin, Ernestine Baker, Bobbie Carolyn DeFranceco, Ruth Kendall, Nancy Hopson, Pricilla Richardson, Sue Bond, and Debbie Howe; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Pearce.
The graveside service for Mrs. Lela B. Carden will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends at Hathaway Percy Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her many friends.
