Lillian Elizabeth Honeycutt, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013, at her residence. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Carter H. and Virginia Miller Hopkins. She was a 1946 graduate of Happy Valley High School and a graduate of Steed College, Johnson City. She was a retired Legal Secretary with Bernard-Cushman, for the American Postal Union, Washington, D.C. She retired and returned to Elizabethton in 1986. Lillian was a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Carter “Eddie” and Donna Honeycutt, Elizabethton; Her Grandchildren; Carter E. Honeycutt Jr. and April E. Hardin, both of Elizabethton; Her Great Grandchildren: Jordan Kennedy, Alexis Kennedy, Emma Honeycutt, Carter Beth Honeycutt, Haley Cretsinger and Austin Wright; Two Sisters: Joyce Bear, Memphis, and Wanda Kay Goodwin, Elizabethton; Three Brothers: Samuel Ray Hopkins, of Delaware, Curtis W. Hopkins, of Arkansas, and Louis E. Hopkins, Elizabethton; Several nieces & nephews, including a special niece & nephews, Diana Finlay and Dale Miller; Her loving companion and friend, Sylvester. Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, will be: Curtis Hopkins, Louis Hopkins, Samuel Hopkins, Mark Hill, Bob Hughes, Lanny Eggers and Darrell Hardin. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Steve Ray, Jerry Simpson and Connie Verran. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Linda Johnson, Mark Hill and her neighbors and a very special “Thank You” to her sister-in-law: Linda Hopkins. The family request no flowers and that Memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Friends may also visit with the family and her residence.
