image Lois June Guinn Lewis, 77, Elizabethton passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at the residence of her nephew Richard Bowers following a brief illness. A native of Carter County she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mae Wilson Guinn. She was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a homemaker. Lois was a member of the Watauga First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Lewis, a son Jeffrey Lewis, four brothers and three sisters. She loved to cook, loved children and going antiquing.

Survivors include Kathy & Danny Vanover, Elizabethton, Johnny & Glenda Lewis, Dungannon, Virginia, 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; Esther Estep, Hampton; Selma Bowers, Elizabethton; Robert Edmisten and several nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews including a special great niece Hannah Bowers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Art Webb officiating. The eulogy will be given by her nephew Richard Bowers. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Christina Lewis, Soloist and Crawfords Crossing. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday will be: Eric Bowers, Rusty Edens, Ennis Bowers, Danny Vanover, David Elliott and Christopher Kendall. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful staff, excellent care and support provided for Mrs. Lewis and her family and also Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family also extends special thanks and much love to Richard & Andrea Bowers for the excellent care received from them during her final days and also to Mary Burmeister. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
