Lois Morrell Maden, 95, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013, at Appalachian Christian Village following an extended illness. She was born in Longmont, Colo., to the late Sam and Hattie Hodges Morrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Morrell and Joseph Franklin Morrell, and an infant daughter, Harriett Archer. Ms. Maden had worked as an LPN and was an active member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. She was very active and involved during her time at Broadmore Assisted Living in Johnson City. Ms. Maden was a member of Senior Citizens of Elizabethton. Survivors include a brother, Ralph Morrell, Edgewater, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Sue Roberson Morrell, Marion, Va. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews also survive. The funeral service for Ms. Maden will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Mike Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Appalachian Christian Village and Broadmore Assisted Living for the loving care given to Ms. Maden during her illness.
