Loretta Montgomery Woods, 61, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of Mary Whitehead McNeal of Elizabethton and the late Roy A. Montgomery. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Woods, and her step-father, Ray McNeal.
Mrs. Woods was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a sister, Beverly Buckles, Knoxville; two brothers, Roy “Vaughn†Montgomery, Johnson City, and Charles McNeal, Knoxville; a step-sister, Mary Elizabeth King, Unicoi; and a step-brother, Roy McNeal of Texas. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Woods will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Charlie Biggs will serve as honorary pallbearer. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
