Lowell Carman Estep

Lowell C. “Beno” Estep, 74, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 14, 2011, at his residence. He was the son of the late Campbell and Grace Crider Estep and was born in Carter County. Mr. Estep was known by all who were close to him for his love of football and NASCAR. He was a retired foreman from Holston Defense Corporation and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Estep was also a member of the Elizabethton Elks Club and the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Estep, Knoxville, and Mechele Lewis, Elizabethton; two sons, Jeff Estep, Elizabethton, and Sean Ford; five grandchildren, Jammie Pierce Cole, Hollie Richardson, Cory Lewis, Ashley Estep Taylor and Heather Estep; three-great-grandchildren, Linsey Jenkins, Ella Grace Cole and Alexis Taylor; a brother, Lindberg Estep and his wife, Zelda, Elizabethton; his girlfriend, Joyce McCloud; and a special friend, Bryce McCloud. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Estep will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 21, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Charles Biggs officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, and at the residence of his son, Jeff, 604 S. Lynn Avenue, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny Tanner, David McCloud, Daniel McCloud, Jeff Estep, Lindy Phillip Estep and Mark Little. Honorary pallbearer will be Bryce McCloud. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
