Mable Virginia Steffey Crowe, 87, of Elizabethton, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.

A native of Groseclose, Va., she was the daughter of the late Irvin Harvey and Minnie Myrtle Horne Steffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gibson Crowe; three brothers, Ivan Dean Steffey, Ralph Steffey and William G. Steffey; and two sisters, Gladys Colbaugh and Ruby Steffey.

Mrs. Crowe retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Harvey Crowe, Holland, Ohio; a grandson, Tristan Leigh Crowe, Holland, Ohio; two sisters, Inez Fortunato, South Line, Mich., and Frances S. Taylor, Elizabethton; and a special niece, Pat Woods and her husband, Gary, Elizabethton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Crowe will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, and at the residence of a sister, Frances S. Taylor, 501A West G Street, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service on Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tristan Crowe, Gary Woods, Nathan Woods, Eric Stout, Lucas Mink, Jonathan Bowling, Nathaniel Bowling, Roy Colbaugh, Tom Colbaugh, Ted Colbaugh and Junior Campbell. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Mountain States Hospice and the staff of Hillview Health Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Crowe. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
