Margaret N. Carter

image Mrs. Margaret N. Carter, 90, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly 1027 Walker Street, Elizabethton, passed away at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Sunday, February 27, 2011 following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Baxter E. and Mary Morrell Nave and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Bounce” Carter, who died December 25, 2002; and two sisters, Beatrice Stubblefield and Helen Hathaway.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the First Christian Church of Elizabethton and a former employee of Woolworth, Big K and a retired employee of Walmart. She was a homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Tammy Carter of Elizabethton.

The celebration of life service for Mrs. Margaret N. Carter will be conducted on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, Elizabethton with Mr. Steve Hill, Minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Pat Counts, pianist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service and at other times at the home of son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Tammy Carter, 601 Maryetta Avenue, Elizabethton, TN.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Randy Jones, Steve Carter, Larry Counts, Leonard February, David Shields, Joe Alexander, Richard Barker, Greg Bowers and Tim Broyles. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Laws III, Dr. John Crockett, Andy Grindstaff, David Pinkard, Charlie Bowman and John Holtsclaw. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the First Christian Church Fidelas Sunday School Class, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Ivy Hall Nursing Home Staff for all their love and care shown to Mrs. Carter and the Carter family during her stay there.
