Martha Stalcup Stout, 83, Butler, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Virgie Mae Wilson Stalcup. Martha was a 1948 graduate of Johnson County High School and Steed Business College, Bristol. She was employed as Secretary and Bookkeeper at Tri State Growers of Mountain City for over 30 years.

She was a member for 59 years and former Worthy Matron of Butler Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star. Martha was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, where she had been a member of the Church Choir for several years, she was also active in the WMU.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Fred W. Stout, February 12, 2011; by two sisters: Opal Nave and Wanda Long; and a brother: A.J. Stalcup.

Survivors include a Son & Daughter-In-Law: Tony & Carol Stout, Butler; Two Grandsons: Chad Stout and wife, Nikki, and Cody Stout and his friend, Haley Pleasant, all of Butler; A Great Grandson: Gavin Stout; Two Nephews; Four Nieces; Two Sisters-in-Law: Nannie Vaught, Mountain City, and Margaret Stalcup, Gray.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Martha Stout will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, in the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Kreg Smith and Rev. Frank Woods officiating.

Entombment Services will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Church Choir and Becky Arnold, Soloist. Active Pallbearers will be Deacons of the Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Fred Crowe, Mack Matherly, Paul Lowe, Pat Conville and Glen Shupe.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her Care Givers: Carolyn Bunten, Denise Norris and the Staff of Mountain City Care Center.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday in the Little Doe Baptist Church. Butler Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star will conduct a Memorial Service following the funeral service.
