Mary Ada Simerly McKinney, 89, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earnest and Dolly Casey Simerly.
Mrs. McKinney was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She was a former Senior Vice-President of Carter County Bank where she also served as secretary to the board for 33 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Earl McKinney; a grandson, Mike McKinney; a sister, Edith Peters; a brother, Louis Jack Simerly; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Simerly.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by a son, Earl McKinney and wife, Mary Jane, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Natalie Tate and husband, Wes, Elizabethton; a brother, Fletcher Gene Simerly and wife, Nancy, Greeneville; a brother-in-law, L. Wayne Peters, Venice, Fla.; and a step-grandson, J.P. Mathes and wife, Leona, Elizabethton.
The graveside service for Mrs. McKinney will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Richard Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of J.P. and Leona Mathes. Everyone will meet at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday.
