Mary Alice Arnold, age 84 of Elizabethton passed away at her residence on Sunday, August 7, 2011 following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Docia Richardson Taylor. She was a member of Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Arnold was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jess H. Arnold and her second husband, Roy Sims, one sister, Mrs. Beryl Taylor Blevins, four brothers, J.N. Taylor, Delmas Taylor, Ben Taylor and Alf Gene Taylor.
Survivors include one son, Patton Arnold and his wife, Teresa, Elizabethton, two grandchildren, Emily Arnold and Luke Arnold both of Elizabethton. Special niece, Irene Brockwell and special nephew, Leon Blevins, and special friend, Jenny Ward. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service and interment for Mrs. Arnold will be conducted at 2 PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. James Richardson and Rev. Roger Hayley officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are ask to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 1:30 PM to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dale Colbaugh, Luke Arnold, Leon Blevins, Tim Erwin and Gale Colbaugh.
