Mary Evelyn Buckles Miller, 77, Elizabethton, went home be with her Lord, Wednesday February 22, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Omer E. and Eva Mae Culbert Buckles. She was a graduate of Hampton High School and Steed Business College.
Evelyn was a former employee of Beaunit Fibers and also was a teacher at the Elizabethton Business College. She was a member of Sycamore Chapter #163 Order of Eastern Star, a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Johnson City and Elizabethton Senior Citizens. Evelyn loved to travel.
Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law: Reola & Randy Hopkins, Charleston, South Carolina; One Grandson: Eric Scott McAmis, Johnson City; A Brother & sister-in-law: Ralph & Nancy Buckles, New Holland, Pa.; One Nephew: Ralph Buckles Jr.; Two Nieces: Sarah & Angelia; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Owens and Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating.
Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You†to Hunter Memorial Baptist Church for all their acts of kindness.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
