Mary Love Allen, age 85, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. and Gertrude Taylor Love. Mrs. Allen retired from the Elizabethton City School System and had previously taught in the Carter County School System. She was an active member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Allen was a member of Watauga Point United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Allen; a sister, Evelyn Starnes; and a brother, Bob Love.
Survivors include a daughter, Beth Allen Delp, Elizabethton; a son, Ed Allen and wife, Elena, Kingsport; four grandchildren, Ashley Holdaway and husband, Matt, Bentonville, Arkansas, Kristin Kendall, Elizabethton, Lauren Allen, Kingsport, and Will Allen, Kingsport; and a sister, Ann Balch, Jefferson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Committal and entombment service for Mary Love Allen will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Estel Williams officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service.
