Mary L. Hardin

image Mary L. Hardin, 65, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Murray C. and Marguerite Mott Duncan and was born in King’s Tree, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, M.C. Duncan, Jr. Mrs. Hardin was a homemaker and a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Earl K. Hardin of the home; a son, Earl K. Hardin, Jr. and his wife, Joan, Elizabethton; a daughter, Sandra Hughes and her husband, John, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Samantha Hardin; Jessica Hardin and Matthew Hughes; a sister, Faye Gandy, Pittston, PA; her special friends, June Honeycutt and Linda Wiseman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hardin will be conducted on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Randy Johnson and Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Carl Roberson, Sam Harrison, Teddy Hardin, John Hughes, Mack McClelland, Jim Ritts, Jimmy Gandy, Bobby Hamilton and John Zabiegelski. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Ellis and Archie Hardin. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
