Mr. Michael R. Bowers, 65, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was the son of Mildred Ruby Nave Bowers, of Elizabethton, and the late Lt. Col. Floyd Howard Bowers, U.S. Air Force, retired.
Mr. Bowers was retired from Heartland Motor Express and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post 2166, and attended First Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two daughters, Heather and Michelle; two brothers, Ed Bowers, of Charlotte, NC, and Ernie Bowers, Johnson City, TN; a nephew, Michael Bowers, Charlotte, NC; a long term companion, Gloria Crudt, of New York. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Bowers will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Reverend Brent Seals officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
The graveside service will follow the service on Saturday at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Melvin Nave, Thomas Perry, Michael Bowers and Mike Miller.
