Mina Hicks Hagie, age 97, of Elizabethton, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Pine Ridge Care Center after a lengthy illness. A native of Avery County, NC, she had lived in Carter County, TN, since 1948 and was the daughter of the late Boyd and Etta Potter Hicks. She was a longtime member of Oak Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hagie; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sons, Stewart Hagie and wife, Jean, and Paul Hagie and wife, Patricia; and one granddaughter, Paula Powell and husband, Lynn, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mina Hicks Hagie will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2013, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bruce Hendrich and Chaplain Bryan Smith officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bill and Rita Francher. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Junior Garland, Melvin Gwyn, John Shook, Chris McCoury, James Hagie, Raymond Gwyn, Will Andrews and Mike Shupe. All those attending the graveside service are requested to assemble at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. David Fenner, Dr. Stephen May and to Pine Ridge Care Center for their excellent care given to Mrs. Hagie and also to Caris Hospice.
