Mrs. Mina Hyder Street, 82, of Hampton, went home on Friday, April 5, 2013, following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Hyder and Julie Ann McKinney Hyder. In addition to nine siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty one years, Rev. Ronda Street; and a son-in-law, Lynn Graham.
Mina was a talented singer and musician. She attended Morgan’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, where she played the piano until her illness made that impossible. She and her husband spent many happy years serving the church community and spending time in fellowship with their friends in Christ.
Mina was a retired bookkeeper, but her life’s work was loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. It was her joy in life to have her family around her to share a meal and the comfort that only family can give. She and her husband devoted their lives to caring for the members of their church and were always there to share a laugh, give a word of encouragement or extend words of comfort. She was a woman of constant faith. In the end, dementia robbed her of many pleasures, but she never lost her desire to go home. She can rest now in the peace that being home provides.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Breedlove and Hilda Graham; one son-in-law, Bill Breedlove; two grandchildren, Julie Griffin and her husband, Kevin, and Joseph Breedlove and his wife, Stephanie. She had three great grandchildren, who brought her much joy, Delaney Griffin, Jackson Breedlove and Jenna Breedlove. She will be missed by them all, but forgotten by none.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Rev. Greg Whitehead, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, prior to the service.
Private interment will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Breedlove, Joseph Breedlove, Kevin Griffin, Shannon Morton, Leslie McKinney, Gary Campbell and Dennis “Butch” Hyder.
