Nellie Irene Boring, 93, of Bristol, Tennessee, died on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

She was born June 30, 1918, a daughter of the late H.O. Ferguson and Willie Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gordon Boring.

Nellie was a World War II veteran, having served as a nurse in the U.S. Army. She was a member of Anderson Street United Methodist Church for the past 53 years, where she was a supporting member of the Jo Mahaffey Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women’s Group.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Nellie is survived by her son, Joe Boring and wife, Beth of Roswell, GA; Granddaughter, Kate Boring, of Roswell, GA; nieces, Kathy Worley and Lissa Ferguson and Robin Wheelock; nephew, Tim Ferguson; and cousin, Charles Worley; sisters-in-law, Virginia Shaffer, Reba Ferguson and Edith Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Anderson Street United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Clark officiating.

The committal service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton, TN.
