Nicholas F. Michael, 99, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 15, 2013, from natural causes associated with old age.
He was born in Wise County, VA, to the late Leroy and Nancy Bennett Michael.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bowling Michael, in December 1990; one sister; and two brothers.
Mr. Michael was a former supervisor of North American Rayon Corporation and retired from Atmos Energy Company. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for forty-nine years, beginning his membership in 1964. He loved his Lord and his music, his life and his family.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Michael, Johnson City; a daughter, Norma Jean Hull, Greeneville; two granddaughters, Lisa A. Simmons-Quinn and husband, Johnnie E. Quinn, Sarasota, FL, and Teresa J. Grindstaff Baumann; three great grandchildren, Nicholas J. Baumann and Michael J. Baumann, both of Greeneville, and William Baumann, Johnson City; one son-in-law, James Simmons; and one grandson-in-law, Rudy J. Baumann, Johnson City; one niece, Charlotte Taylor, Johnson City; and a special friend, Jimmy Lloyd, Johnson City.
The celebration of life service for Mr. Michael will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2013, in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Michael Richards officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service, or friends may come by the home at anytime.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
