II Timothy 4: 7-8 Nora Kay Welch, 72, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 28, 2013, after a long illness. She was a resident of Pine Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 20 years and spent most of her life in Elizabethton, except for the 10 years she spent in Galax, Va. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Caudill McQueen, and step-father, Lawrence McQueen. Mrs. Welch was employed by Vaughn Furniture Company. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Myers and husband Phillip of Elizabethton; two sons, Kenny Welch III of Galax, Va., and Jeff Welch and wife Selena of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Joan Crigger and husband Roger of Rural Retreat, Va., and Shelia Mooney and husband Larry of Virginia. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all her friends; Chaplain Bryan Smith and staff of Pine Ridge Care Center; and a special cousin and friend, Shirley Rambo.
The funeral service for Mrs. Welch will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Roger Crigger officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sarah LeAnne Kolseth and Rev. Roger Crigger. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
