Ollie Garrison Jr., 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Ollie Garrison Sr. and Goldie Williams Garrison.
Mr. Garrison was a 1949 graduate of Elizabethton High School. In earlier years he worked at Smithdeal’s Supermarket. He moved to Hampton, Va., where he lived for 40 years before returning to Elizabethton. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
Mr. Garrison was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Roberson Garrison, and his second wife, Mable Garrison; a son, Terry Allen Garrison; a brother, William Garrison; and a sister, Mary May Garrison.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Kay Hottin and Robin Lynn Morgan, both of Hampton, Va.; two granddaughters, Angela and Amanda; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Betty Linville.
Funeral services for Mr. Garrison will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Nevil Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery. The family would like to express a special “Thank You†to the staff of Life Care Center for the excellent care received. Honorary pallbearers will be the 1949 Graduating Class of Elizabethton High School. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
