Patricia Ann Hicks, 71, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Hermitage Health Center surrounded by her family.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Shell and Virginia Helen Fisher Shell Morrell. She was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a retired employee of Kennametal. She was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Sycamore Chapter # 163 Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dennis Gary Hicks Sr.

Survivors include Two Daughters: Denise Hicks Laws and husband, Robert, Elizabethton, and Dawn Hicks, of the home; One Son: Dennis Hicks Jr. and wife, Jana Lisa, Watauga; Five Grandchildren: Adrienne Range Cross and husband, Jerald, Kristen Hicks Lanzon and husband, Chris, Kendra Hicks, Daniel Range and Kristopher Stennett; One Great Granddaughter: Madison Elizabeth Carter; Two Great Grandsons: Judah Cross and Gabriel; Two Sisters: Sharon Depew and Delores Floss McKinney and husband, Arvel, all of Elizabethton; One Brother: Kenneth “Butch” Shell and wife, Melinda, Kearney, Arizona.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Tommy Range, Leo Meredith, David Depew, Richie Hicks, Ronnie Hicks, Drew Barker, Ethan Meredith and Kristopher Stennett. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Richard & Virginia Hicks, Diane & Gary Stevens, Junior Campbell, Gary Troxell, Jack Campbell, Marvin Dial, Eddie Campbell, James Alexander, Robert Neal and Mike Cassell.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Jeannie Barker and the Staff of Hermitage Health Care Center, including the Dietary Staff, the CNAs, The Nurses, The Maintenance Staff, The Activity Staff, The Housekeeping Staff and the Administrative Staff for the excellent care that was received.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law: Denise and Robert Laws, 328 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton.
