Patsy J. Ellis, 71, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, in the Johnson City Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born in Washington County, TN, to the late Alva “Nappy” Freeman and Doris Berry Freeman. Ms. Ellis was the owner and operator of Pat’s Mountaineer Package Store. Survivors include her son, Freddie Whitaker, Johnson City; and her caregiver, Toni Smith, Johnson City. The funeral service for Ms. Ellis will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Paul Crowe, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bill Hopson, Rick Hill, Bill Profitt, John Duncan, David Whitaker and Darrell Peters. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Thursday to go in procession.
