Paul J. Hopson, Elizabethton passed away Sunday July 17, 2011 in the Hermitage Health Center.

He was a native of Roan Mountain and graduated from Cloudland High School in 1939. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1939 and was discharged in 1945. After the Military he returned to Elizabethton and was employed in the Electric Shop at North American Rayon Corporation until September 11, 1992. He was a long standing member of West Side Christian Church. Paul was preceded in death by his parents: John Hopson and Rose Etta Blackwell Hopson Miller, his step-father Roby Miller, sister & brother-in-law: Gladys and William “Ance” Johnson and his wife Georgia Ashworth Hopson January 4, 2009.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Bill & Gloria Snodgrass, Crossville, Tenn. A Daughter: Gail Fisher, Elizabethton. A brother, Bill Miller and his wife Ann, Roan Mountain and daughter Nikki Pullano Tonton, Mass. Three Grandsons: John Fisher, Elizabethton, Rick Fisher, Pilot Mountain, NC and Willy Snodgrass Wellpenit, Washington. Two Granddaughters: Robin Snodgrass Kennedy, Maryville, Washington and Lisa Hardin, Mountain City. A special great granddaughter: Sara Fisher.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Greg Key, Minister officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family and John L. Blackwell.
