Paul W. Taylor, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2013, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert and Lizzie Grindstaff Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Blaine D., Ira, John R., Howard M., Hobert, Orvil J. and Fred Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Dugger Taylor; One Son: William A. “Bill” Taylor and wife, Tammy, Elizabethton; Two Granddaughters: Lauren Taylor and Lindsay Taylor; One Brother: Joe M. Taylor and wife, Ivade; Several nieces & nephews. He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He was employed at North American Rayon Corporation for 45 years. He served in the 20th Air Force in World War II and was a member of the Big Spring Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. H. Clay Bailey officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Justin Taylor, Edwin Taylor, Austin Oaks, James Jones, Daniel Jackson, Richard Burleson and Keith Burleson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Eddie, Robert, Jimmy and Lynn Taylor, Roy Colbaugh, Delmas Dugger, David Jackson and his Church family. Military Honors will be provided by The American Legion and Tennessee National Guard. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Taylor to the Big Spring Church of Christ, ? Gary Cable, 119 Sunny Acres, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643; or the donor’s favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
