Pauline W. Whitehead, age 96, formerly of 1000 Smalling Road, Johnson City, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 in the Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Ray Scott and Mae Pierce Wilson.

Mrs. Whitehead was a former employee of the Bemberg Corporation and was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Whitehead; two sisters, Mary Ruth Range and Beatrice Wilson; and four brothers, Woodrow Wilson, Mark Wilson, Lefler Wilson, and Crawford Wilson.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Whitehead, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Greg Whitehead of Columbus, GA, Jonathan Whitehead and wife, Beth, Charlotte, NC, Tina English and husband, Barry, of Elizabethton, and Michael Morrell of Richmond, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas Whitehead and Whitney Whitehead, both of Columbus, GA, and Aaron Clark, Alec Whitehead, Olivia Babb, Amber English, Melissa English, and Megan English, all of Elizabethton; and four sisters, Gladys Treadway of Oregon, Eve Cunningham of GA, Virginia Smith and husband, Robert, of Knoxville, TN, and Myrna Arnett and husband, Ray, of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service for Pauline W. Whitehead will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park with Brian Smith, Chaplain of Pine Ridge Care Center, officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Walton, Alec Whitehead, Bobby Clark, Roy Dula, Tim Holt, Crystal Scott, and Barry English.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday to travel together in procession to the cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family at the home of her son, Thomas Whitehead, at 705 W. G Street, Elizabethton, at other times.

The family would like to extend a very sincere and special thank you to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center for the loving care given to Pauline during her illness, and to the many friends and neighbors that visited with Pauline. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in memory of Pauline to the charity of your choice.
