Peggy Ann Townsend, 64, of Johnson City, Tenn., died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Montgomery, W.Va., and was a daughter of Thomas Whitlock and Garnet Daniel Whitlock Frazier. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Mary Baker. Mrs. Townsend had worked for Wal-Mart and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Auburn A. Townsend; sons, Oggie Townsend and wife Shannon and Shane Townsend and wife Stephanie, all of Elizabethton; father, Thomas Whitlock of Albemarle, N.C.; mother, Garnet Frazier and husband Bob of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Bradley, Dylan, Jordyn and Ashlyn; sister, Linda Rose of Fredericksburg, Va.; and sisters-in-law, Joann Valko and husband George of Detroit, Mich., and Maxine Blake and husband Peter of Agora, Fla. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Townsend will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Banks officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday.
