Peggy J. Ornduff, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in the Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Lee and Gladys Gentry Ornduff. Peggy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, and East Tennessee State College, where she received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed by the Johnson City School System for over 40 years as an Elementary School Teacher. Peggy was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for several years. She was a member of the ADKA Teachers Sorority, Friend of the Library, member of the Book Club and loved to travel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Harry L. Ornduff; a sister: Frances E. Ornduff; and a nephew: Eric Lee Collins. Survivors include a sister: Millie Jane Collins and her husband, Gerald “Pete” Collins, Elizabethton; Two Brothers: Richard D. Ornduff, Elizabethton, and David Ornduff and wife, Betsy, Maryville, Tennessee; Two Nephews: Timothy L. Ornduff, Knoxville, and Gregory L. Ornduff, Maryville; One Great Nephew: Matthew L. Ornduff.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Peggy J. Ornduff will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Oak Street Baptist Church Choir. Active Pallbearers will be contacted.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to mfc@chartertn.net. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge.
