ELIZABETHTON — Mr. R. Louis Taylor, age 80, of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Louis was born April 14, 1933 in Elizabethton, TN the son of the late Roy and Stella Dunn Taylor. He graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1951. His years of employment were spent as a “pipefitter/ sketcher” at numerous power plants in the Eastern state of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina and South Carolina. Louis enjoyed genealogy and woodworking. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN and was a member of the Local Union #538, Pipefitters and Steamfitters in Johnson City, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rondal Taylor. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Danny Pickelsimer Taylor. They were married December 23, 1951 in the East Side Baptist Church, Elizabethton the ceremony being performed by Danny’s father, Pastor D. W. Pickelsimer. Other survivors are his children, Sherry Taylor Shaner and husband Jay, Fredrick, MD and Richard Taylor and wife Kathy, Richland, WA; grandchildren, James Taylor and wife Kristine, Richland, WA, Kurt Taylor and wife Shelly, Mascot, TN and August Shaner, Frederick, MD; great-grandchildren, Emily Charlene Taylor and Anna Michelle Taylor, both of Mascot, TN; a sister, June Taylor Kephart and husband Bill and family, Murphy, NC; a brother-in-law, Gailor Pickelsimer and his family, Taylors, SC. Funeral service for Mr. R. Louis Taylor will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with Rev. Dean Smith and Rev. Bob Polk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the funeral service. Mr. Taylor will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Bagpiper at the graveside service will be a grandson, Kurt Taylor. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Kurt Taylor, James Taylor, August Shaner, Chris Pickelsimer, David Pickelsimer, Robert Kephart and Glen Kephart.
