Mr. Ralph Williams, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Daisy McKinney Williams and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Williams, Jim Williams and Farris Williams.

Mr. Williams retired from Norwell and was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in World War II. He served as a deacon for many years at Zion Baptist Church and at Lynn Valley Baptist Church where he was a member. Mr. Williams was also a member of The Praying Mountain Men.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth R. Williams of the home; three daughters, Patricia Hartley and her husband, John, Mountain City; Traci McClure and her husband, Lance, Altavista, VA; Lynn Trivette and her husband, Steve, Elizabethton; one son, Danny R. Williams and his wife, Jada, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Amy Hartley, Doug Hartley, Neil Hartley, Carol Ann Johnson, Jacob McClure, Joshua McClure and Ashley Trivette; and one sister, Stella Barnett, Elizabethton. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

A praise service for Mr. Williams will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 16th at Lynn Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Hartley and Pastor Dennis Wilson officiating. The music will be under the direction of Mr. Neil Hartley. A gathering for family and friends will immediately follow the praise service in the church fellowship hall.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17th at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brady Williams, Rick Shaw, Sam Moody, Dean Rainbolt, Fred Jenkins, Ron Miller and Dave White. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. William’s friends at Lynn Valley Baptist Church and members of The Praying Mountain Men. Everyone will meet at Lynn Valley Baptist Church at 10:15 on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
