Robert C. Forbes, 84, Johnson City, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Oliver C. and Nell Goodnight Forbes.

Mr. Forbes was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City. He was also a member at Englewood Christian Church in Jacksonville, FL, for fifty years, where he was very active serving in the congregation.

Mr. Forbes proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Master Sergeant with the 227 Anti-Artillery Group. He was a thirty second degree Mason with the Shriners in Jacksonville, FL.

He enjoyed cars, traveling, music and animals.

He leaves behind his loving wife of fifty plus years, Martha Holsclaw Forbes; sister, Dorothy Baer; nieces and nephew, June Pinkerton, Judy Barrett and Bill Baer; and a special cousin, John Fobes. Several other great nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Appalachian Christian Village, and the Intensive Care Unit staff, especially Earl Lyon of Johnson City Medical Center for the care and support given to Mr. Forbes.

A Celebration of Life Service for Robert C. Forbes will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at First Christian Church of Johnson City with Mr. Kenneth Gemeinhart, Minister officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM till the service hour.

Entombment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum of Peace. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Boone Dam Post #4933.
