Robert Edwin “Bob” Cornett, 58, Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 11, 2013, at his residence. A native of Abingdon, Virginia, he had lived in Elizabethton most of his life. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. Bob had worked for Century Link as an outside technician for 40 years. He was a member of East Side Christian Church. Bob was an avid Golfer. He was preceded in death by his father, John Cornett. Survivors include his wife: Dorothy “Dot” Holly Cornett; A Daughter & Son-In-Law: Hollie & Tim Pierce, Elizabethton; A Son & Daughter-In-Law: Justin and Allison Cornett, Elizabethton; His Mother: Patsy Morley Cornett, Elizabethton; Three Grandchildren: Millie Pierce, Marlee and Trenton Cornett; A Brother: Steve Cornett and wife, Sandy, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Bob Cornett will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. John H. Smith and Mr. Randle Johnson, Ministers, officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Jason Holly, Travis Holly, Tom Holly, Chris Cornett, Shawn Witten, Shaun Stout, Keith Carr, Scott Heaton and Carlos Peuza, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jackie Holly, Tommy Holly, David Forbes, Drew Miller, Mike Fritts, Mike Stout, Eddie Thomason, Rick Simerly, Ron Stanley, Tommy Stout, Chauncey Fernandes, cousins of both families, his beach golf buddies, employees and former employees of Century Link and his church family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to mfc@chartertn.net. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge.
