Robert Renfro “Bob†Allen, 81, Johnson City, died December 25, 2010 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Judge Ben & Corinne Renfro Allen of Elizabethton. Mr. Allen graduated from Tennessee Military Institute and received a degree in Business Administration from East Tennessee State College, then entered the U.S. Army and served with the Signal Corps in Germany. Returning to Elizabethton, he was engaged in several automotive businesses and later taught in the Virginia Vocational School System at Crewe and Mount Jackson, Virginia. In 1972, he returned home to this area where he founded one of the first import car dealerships and pursued his passion of Ford Mustang restorations.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Della Barrett Allen: Two Sons: Benjamin Barrett Allen and Albert Andrew Allen; one sister, Dr. Elizabeth Allen; three grandchildren, Mark, Crystal and Alixandria Allen.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence.
To those who prefer, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
