Roma Jean Taylor Bures, 74, went home to be with the Lord in her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Continuum Courtyard, Johnson City, Tenn., with her family by her side.

Roma Jean was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late John R. “Jack” and Irene Wampler Taylor. Roma Jean was a 1956 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She received her BS Degree from East Tennessee State University and the University of Louisville, Ky. After receiving her degree she married and moved to Tallahassee, Fla., with her husband, Pete Bures. In Tallahassee, she was on the management team for the Department of Transportation in the Capitol Building in Tallahassee, Fla. She was a member of the Central Community Christian Church.

Roma Jean was an encourager to all the children in her family to do well in school and to read books and study daily. She assisted her seven step-grandchildren with their school studies and activities and played an important role in their lives, devoting her time loving and caring for them in her special way.

Roma Jean loved her nieces and nephews like her own and took every opportunity to spend time and encourage them in every way, making birthdays and holidays extra special. Roma Jean also filled the lives of her brother and sister and mother and father with great love and compassion that we will always remember. She always had a sweet, pleasant smile for everyone. She loved people, traveling, crafts and sewing with our Mother.

Roma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Irene Wampler Taylor, and her husband, Jaroslav Pete Bures.

Roma Jean is survived by her loving sister, Nancy Jones, and brother-in-law, Paul Jones, who shared special times together throughout our lives; her brother, Robert L. Taylor, who was a very special little brother who we looked out for and protected him like a mother; nieces, Angela Jill Harkleroad, Kellie Sorrell and Karen Williams; nephews, James Jones Jr., and Jason Matthew Taylor; great-nieces, Haley Olivia Harkleroad, Isabella Nicole Harkleroad, Jessica Marie Taylor and Sara Ann Taylor; and one great-nephew, Jacob Matthew Taylor.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to all employees of Continuum Courtyard Building 2 at West Lakeview Drive in Johnson City. The care they provided was with Love and Compassion and we shall always be grateful to everyone.
