Roy “Blackeye” McKinney, age 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Ollie and Elvina Hall McKinney.

He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. Mr. McKinney was retired and former co-owner of McKinney Sheet Metal Company for 35 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Nathaniel McKinney; and two brothers, Pink McKinney and Terry McKinney.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda Grindstaff McKinney, of the home; two daughters, Teresa McKinney, Elizabethton, Tina Ramsey and a son-in-law, James Ramsey, Johnson City; son, Tim McKinney, Nashville; two brothers, Arvel McKinney and his wife, Delores, Larry and his wife, Judy, all of Elizabethton; sister, Phyllis Oliver and her husband, Richard, Elizabethton; one grandson, Gavin Heaton, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth McKinney, and Sue McKinney, all of Elizabethton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janet and Steve Potter, Dick Oatman, Bob Rainbolt and Linda Range White.

The funeral service will be conducted at 8 PM Monday, March 25, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister, and Mr. H. Clay Bailey, Minister, officiating.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday from 6 PM until 8PM prior to the service hour. Friends may also call at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Gavin Heaton, Jeff McKinney, Dustin Arnett, Tyler Arnett, Steve McKinney, Kenny Grindstaff, Wayne Grindstaff and Ethan Meredith. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are ask to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
